Breakout Sessions

The 10th Anniversary Beverage Forum 2003 will feature all-new Beverage Forum Breakout Sessions, data-driven and insight-intensive sessions that offer a detailed, in-depth level of information and analysis on the global beverage business. Breakout Session registrants are entitled to attend one session from each group (two sessions total).

The new Beverage Forum Breakout Sessions will cover:

Group 1

  1. Market Trends I - Alcoholic Beverages
    Presented by Brian Sudano, Senior Vice President, Beverage Marketing Corporation

    With beer, wine, spirits and "malternatives" all vying for consumer interest, the activity in the market for alcoholic beverages is heating up. In this Breakout, Brian Sudano, who leads BMC's alcoholic beverage consulting practice, will explore inter-category competition in the high-end alcohol market, company and brand innovation, the long-term viability of flavored malt beverages, and the current volume trends and predictions for the balance of 2003 and beyond.

  2. Tracking the New Beverage Consumer
    Presented by Robert L. Cohen, Ph.D., President and CEO, Scarborough Research

    Putting a face on today's beverage consumer is not an easy task. The process includes understanding what motivates a beverage consumer's choices several times every day. This session will zero in on key beverage consumer demographics and behavior, led by an expert in unearthing consumer insight. Bob Cohen oversees the nation's most comprehensive local market syndicated study, measuring consumers' media usage, retail behavior, product usage, demographics and leisure activities in 75 top markets.

  1. Market Trends II - Non-Alcoholic Beverages
    Presented by Gary A. Hemphill, Senior Vice President, Beverage Marketing Corporation, and Andrea Foote, Editor-in-Chief, Beverage World
  2. The latest data and trends on the entire range of non-alcoholic beverages will be explored in this information-packed session. Gary Hemphill and Andrea Foote will delve into what's moving CSD's, waters, juices and juice drinks, dairy drinks and other drink categories, providing valuable insight into the latest volume data and brand, packaging and market trends.

  3. Beverage Innovation: A Global View
    Presented by Lynn Dornblaser, Editorial Director, Global New Product Database, Mintel International Group Limited

    The beverage market is fast becoming a global market in which product innovation in one part of the world influences the creation of beverages that are new to another. Thousands of new and innovative beverage products are introduced each year, and Mintel's Global New Product Database is the best source of new product information available. Lynn Dornblaser will present some of the newest and noteworthy products from around the world, explore the connection between soft drink brands and promotional events, and report on the surge of new meal replacement beverages, among other global beverage trends.

Attend two sessions, one from each Group

The Breakout topics will be covered in four separate and stimulating 75-minute sessions, allowing attendees to register for two programs. Each registered Breakout participant will receive a comprehensive workbook filled with the "drill-down" market data and analysis from the respective sessions.

Lunch will also be served to all Breakout Session attendees.

The new Breakout Sessions were designed to be concise, informative and right to the point, with ideas that will be actionable and applicable at headquarters and/or field level operations.
